On 21st Oct 2023, International Day of Older persons was celebrated in a grand manner Around 350 persons participated in the event, It was supported by Bharatiya Samaj and Hindu Elders. Two nonagerians, John Gonsalves and Jaswanti Ben Patel were honoured and 35 seniors were given certificates for completing digital training prigrammes, NZ Hangout. There were various cultural programs from different age groups. The Chairperson of Manungakiekie-Tamaki Local Board, Maria Meredith was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Jessica Phuang, Ethnic Responsiveness Manager for Metro Auckland for New Zealand Police, Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi, former parliamentarian graced the occasion.
